Dallas’ Defensive Problems Leave Room for Tampa Bay on Thursday Night
Dallas owns the better record and the healthier quarterback room, but Tampa Bay has kept every loss within one score and grabbed a number the market has already shortened.

The read in 30 seconds
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +10 (-135) is the Thursday night play for 1u.
This is not a bet on Tampa Bay being the better football team.
Dallas enters Thursday at 2-2, has one of the league’s most productive offenses and is facing an 0-4 Buccaneers team starting rookie Jalon Daniels in place of the injured Baker Mayfield.
The question is whether Dallas should be laying double digits.
Tampa Bay has lost its first four games by six, four, seven and three points. Despite the winless record, the Buccaneers have not been blown out once.
Meanwhile, Dallas has allowed 389.5 yards per game, ranks 30th in total defense and 31st against the run, while opponents are converting 52.3% of third downs.
The market has already reacted.
Dallas opened around -10, but the broader spread has moved toward -8 even with plenty of public support on the Cowboys.
We already have the better side of that move.
What the market is pricing
The reason Dallas opened as a double-digit favorite is obvious.
Tampa Bay is 0-4, Baker Mayfield has been ruled out with a right thumb injury and Jalon Daniels is preparing for only his second NFL start. The Buccaneers are also missing several important defensive pieces, including Antoine Winfield Jr., Benjamin Morrison and SirVocea Dennis.
Dallas, meanwhile, is averaging 30.5 points per game and has scored at least 30 in three consecutive games. Dak Prescott has thrown eight touchdowns against only one interception, and the Cowboys offense has consistently been good enough to create separation.
That explains why Dallas is favored.
It does not automatically explain why Dallas should win by more than 10.
The Cowboys defense has repeatedly allowed opponents to stay involved. Through four games, Dallas has surrendered 389.5 total yards per game, including 150.2 rushing yards per game. It has produced only four sacks and entered this matchup without an interception.
That profile matters when laying a big number.
A favorite can control the majority of a game and still fail to cover +10 if its defense cannot consistently end possessions.
